Celebrating JESUS for who He is Today and Tomorrow Part 3

Celebrating JESUS for who He is Today and Tomorrow Part 3

Today is the grand finale in the series Celebrating Jesus as He revealed Himself in “Revelation”. We’re going to go to the last few chapters of the book to see who Jesus will be. I trust these last 4 revelations will cause your faith to arise, your hope to be established and your love for Jesus to be energized!

He is the King of Kings, Lord of Lords   Rev 19:16                                              Jesus is the returning King. We remember and celebrate His first coming as a babe. Soon He’ll come as the victorious “King of Kings and Lord of Lords”! Satan, his tactics and cohorts whom He defeated at the cross will be banished to eternal hell.

He is God with us, Emmanuel   Rev 21:3, 22-23                                                      In Revelation 1, we saw Jesus as the unseen reality, the unseen presence in His church. Here, He becomes seen. The Faithful and True reality who removes all crying, pain, mourning and death. The Glorious reality who removes the need for a temple or for the sun or moon. God with us, Emmanuel!

He is the Alpha & Omega, the Beginning & the End, the First & the Last   Rev 21:6                                                                                                                                 Our God, our King, Jesus; always was, always is and always will be! A firm foundation! A forever God. We can fully trust Him! He is making all things new. We can stand with the overcomers because we know who holds our future!

He is the Bright Morning Star   Rev 22:16                                                              The promise of a new day! Jesus coming as a babe some 2000 years ago promised a new day for those of that time and for us who choose to believe and follow Him today. A new day dawned when Jesus rose from the dead! And there’s more! Jesus, as the Bright Morning Star in Revelation presents great hope, in that a new day will dawn when He comes again to take us, His followers, to be with Him forever! A new day that promises inconceivable joy, everlasting peace, overflowing worship and eternal life in heaven with God!

I don’t know about you, but all this just makes me want to stand and shout! What an amazing God we serve! This year I want to celebrate Jesus with thanksgiving for who He is and all that He’s done and with great hope for all He will yet be and do!! Will you join me? Because as we do, His glory will be seen on us. His light will shine from us, drawing the unsaved, the lost and hopeless among us, to salvation, freedom and to NEW, REAL & EVERLASTING LIFE! That’s what Jesus is all about! He’s the Savior of the world.

“Hallelujah! For the Lord our God the Almighty reigns. Let us rejoice and exult and give Him the glory”  Rev 19:6-7

Wishing you all a very Merry Christmas!

Celebrating JESUS for who He is Today and Tomorrow Pt 2

Celebrating JESUS for who He is Today and Tomorrow Pt 2

Today I want to continue with the topic of celebrating Jesus for who He is today and tomorrow. In reading the book of “Revelation”, the “revelation of Jesus Christ” (Rev 1:1), Jesus shows John who He is now and what He’s going to do. I believe we can draw strength and courage from ”Revelation” as  it presents the reality of the character and presence of our Savior, Jesus today and forever.

He is God with US(Emmanuel)   Rev 1:13                                                             Here John sees, “standing in the middle of the lampstands was someone like the Son of Man.” We know the lampstands represent the churches and it says that someone like the Son of Man was in the middle of them. Jesus was in their midst of the churches. He is in His church today! Jesus is moving among us today!

He is the Living One   Rev 1:18                                                                                     He’s not dead nor has He left us. We do not need to be afraid. He has defeated the power of death! He is alive forevermore. His living presence with us is an unseen reality that we should celebrate today.

He is the Son of God   Rev 2:18                                                                                       Let us never forget that Jesus is God. Perfect in holiness, all-powerful, all-knowing. He is the ultimate image of the unseen God. Jesus has final and complete authority over all things!

He is the Lion of the Tribe of Judah   Rev 5:5                                                    Majestic and strong. The victor, the One worthy to open the scroll. However, when John turns to see the victorious, worthy One, he doesn’t see a lion because Jesus didn’t conquer as a lion…

He is the Lamb that was slain   Rev 5:6,                                                                  The Greek word here means “little lamb”. Like a lamb Jesus humbled Himself, surrendered totally and completely to the will of His Father and bore the weight of all our sin on the cross. His sacrifice brought about the triumph! Victory came and still does come through sacrifice!

This is our God, this is Jesus: God with Us, the Living One, the Son of God, the Lion of the tribe of Judah, and the Lamb that was slain. He’s the same yesterday, today and forever. As I think about Jesus in this way, there’s an excitement that rises in me. There’s so much more that He’s called us to do and He is right here with us, teaching us, leading us, and empowering us, to do our part in seeing “His kingdom come on earth as it is in heaven”.

So please join me in celebrating Jesus, this Christmas, for all He’s done, for all He is and for all He will be.                                                                                “To Him who sits on the throne and to the Lamb, be blessing and honor and glory and power, forever and ever!” Rev 5:13

Celebrate JESUS for who He is Today and Tomorrow

Celebrate JESUS for who He is Today and Tomorrow

We have so much to be thankful for as we celebrate Jesus this Christmas. The fact that our Savior came from heaven to earth as a baby, born in a stable, is incredible. That He ultimately gave His life for us is truly worthy of praise and honor! We need to remember and celebrate Him for all that He’s done.

I wonder if we can build on our Christmas celebrations this year by reminding ourselves that “Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today and forever.”(Heb 13:8) The promises and power He represented in the past are true for us today and in the future! In reading the book of “Revelation”, the “revelation of Jesus Christ” (Rev 1:1), Jesus shows John who He is now and what He’s going to do. “Revelation” reveals the character and presence of Jesus today and in the future. Over the next few weeks I want to look briefly at how Jesus is revealed in Revelation. As we add this understanding to our celebrations I believe it will make this Christmas even more meaningful.

He is the Faithful Witness   Rev 1:5                                                                           Jesus did and is doing everything His Father told Him to. He is completely faithful to His Father’s will. He has and always will bring glory to His Father.

He is the Firstborn from the Dead   Rev 1:5                                                         Jesus is the first to have risen from the dead by His own power, never to die again but to live forevermore. He opened the way for us, His followers, to be raised from death to life through the forgiveness of our sins. Real life here and now, and eternal life to come!

He is the Alpha & Omega…the Almighty   Rev 1:8                                              Jesus always was, always is and always will be! There is no one like Him. He has no rival! He is the ruler of all, commanding all the powers in heaven and on earth!

He is the Son of Man   Rev 1:13                                                                                    John sees the glorified Jesus in His human form. As he had known Him years before. The reference here is to Jesus as the One to whom all dominion is given, over all people and nations, forever (Dan 7:13, 14)

As I saw Jesus for who He is now and forever will be, the Faithful Witness, the Firstborn from the Dead, the Alpha & Omega, the Almighty and the Son of Man, something stirred inside of me. I was reminded that God’s got my today and my future in His capable hands, no matter what those days might bring. As I saw Him in that light, my heart overflowed with gratitude. My desire and ability to love and worship Him intensified, giving me renewed confidence in His promises. He said He’d “never leave me or forsake me”. He said He’d “finish the work He began in me” and He’d make me “more than a conqueror”. What an amazing God He is!

Will you join with me this year in celebrating Jesus for who He is today and tomorrow?
